The following notes have been consistent since season 1.

* Get rid of any monsters on your board. You can tell if you have one you can't see because of the music.

* DON'T tap the troll pit. The following do not drop tokens - trolls, pink skunkupine, pink alicorn, wedding alicorn, gem horses.

* Monsters also drop their normal items in addition to the tokens.

* Do the Bronze Hunter Trade if you are nearly maxed on Shield tokens so that they don't go to waste.

* A Level 5 Jousting Arena will spawn a monster on every collection. Link to Jousting Arena Renovations (https://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?83751-Castle-Story-08-06-Update-Jousting-Arena-Renovations-(levels-4-amp-5)) thread.

* The Mythic Research Center is a new long-term goal, meaning it will be around past the current season. All crafts within the MRC are available to craft anytime if you have the tokens.

* The new trades will appear after you do 1 of any trade in the Trade Wagon.

Also BOO to you S8 for yet another leaderboard. :mad: If the Royal Unicorn has good drops and ever appears on the market for a reasonable amount of gems, I?ll very likely purchase it. But I personally will never spend a single dime, or gem, just to maybe win one.

Me either. I do however see them in my inventory. I don?t know how we are trading in for gold tokens nor did they say how to get the dark horse. I got tend a cow but nothing happened so I don?t know how to get the horse token.

Even though there's no ongoing goal yet, the Royal Dark Unicorn does trigger from cows after the initial one. 10 hits to defeat. Each hit gave me two sword tokens (so total of 20) and overall two unicorn tokens. I'm maxed on staff tokens pending the gold trade showing up. Just for fun I defeated a blue wild boar but will wait until I can trade to do the purple golem.

Got a second unicorn after about 10 more cows and already made first goal LOL - got a unicorn trap. Everyone don't forget to start clicking Princess Lorelei's fountain.

If you mean the dark unicorn spawn, we will have to wait until they activate the spawns, same for coin trades. If you mean the armored unicorn, it is crafted in the MRC. If you mean the Royal Unicorn, you have to come in first or second in the leaderboard.

Even though there's no ongoing goal yet, the Royal Dark Unicorn does trigger from cows after the initial one. 10 hits to defeat. Each hit gave me two sword tokens (so total of 20) and overall two unicorn tokens. I'm maxed on staff tokens pending the gold trade showing up. Just for fun I defeated a blue wild boar but will wait until I can trade to do the purple golem.

Got a second unicorn after about 10 more cows and already made first goal LOL - got a unicorn trap. Everyone don't forget to start clicking Princess Lorelei's fountain.

Yes! It’s obvious that the primary emphasis is on the LB here, since the monster hunt basics haven’t even been activated. :mad:
But I’m maxed on swords and close to max on the shields & staffs, and I’m stuck. I See no purpose to wasting energy fighting beasts when we can’t collect tokens and trade for gold. For me (and I’m sure for many others as well), the hunt is primary and any LB participation is purely incidental. (Although I do admit I’ll welcome any trade tickets, since we need about a zillion of them.)

I didn't realize that there aren't trades in the trade wagon and triggered the purple golem after nothing happened with the cow. Now I can't do anything unless and until the trades show up in the trade wagon. I never understood why they disappeared when monster hunts ended because some items drop tokens outside of the hunt. I'm not interested in another animal that drops dew so I won't waste gold coins on it. I don't like leaderboards so I might sit this one out.

S8, please stop having players debug these leaderboard events. They don't go smoothly because you leave it to us. This is the second time that you haven't had anyone from S8 monitoring this forum when the event started. We players spend enough money on this game that you should be able to debug it before it goes live and to have a representative available here when these events don't go as planned. The leaderboard events never do, and this one is again off to a bad start with no one to acknowledge and fix the problems you hand us with these leaderboard events. Please consider, at the least, having someone standing by when these leaderboard events start.

My leaderboard didn’t’t show until a reset, then I did get the points and prizes that I should have; hopefully it will be the same for others. I like that the spawned unicorn drops sword tokens and the novice prize for hard to find fangbeasts is staff tokens, which I max on easily. There are some nice tweaks for those of us just hunting tokens.

I?m also on a leaderboard with people who are much higher level than me (maybe because I won the royal lion without having to try too hard) and all look like hard competitors. There was someone with 700+ points within 2 hours and they don?t have armies of alicorns...I can only imagine that they won the points, but others are passing me quickly.


Oh well, at least I can try to focus on my home life and collecting tokens.

@pocopicasso: the mystery chests aren't really the prize. You get what is shown when it tells you you've won a mystery chest. Those items should be in inventory (or your battle points have increased).

My cows aren't spawning anything. Also the tend a cow quest didn't register as complete but it did disappear after I tended 1 cow.

I do not have a monster parked. I cleared one then went straight to the cows.

Edit: 2 force closes and now they are spawning.

As always - LBs stink, I'll be ignoring that and focusing only on the hunt. LOL. This is sound advice nonetheless and I, for one, shall be taking it.

Last time my brain went on vacation and I crafted all the Armored Lions during the Hunt which means I've only just gotten my Golden Nuggets back to a respectable level. I don't want to go through that again! Though Golden Apples are a bit more plentiful in my realm, I'm still not chancing it. I've decided that I'll craft the Dark Unicorns as I go, making sure to keep my apple levels to my liking throughout.

If status is up and everything loads but the games, sometimes the game doesn't recover from a previously weak signal and the connection needs to cycle/refresh. If the status says up but you can't get in, try either cycling the wifi or turn the device off for 2min (this will **** all connection fully) and power back up.

From what mine is dropping it seems to be the average horse (horse hair, carrot, fertilizer, sugar) but with the added bonus of one Trade Ticket per collection.

I think I get a bunch fighting the blue dire boars. Less energy to finish & so they'll drop more frequently. Just what I've been doing & so far working out pretty good for me.


Just a few troubleshooting ideas for those with connection problems. Turn off the WiFi on your device & reboot your router. Once the routers back online, do a hard restart of your device & reconnect to your WiFi. You could also try clearing the cache on your device. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. 🤞🏻

I just fought 2 purple glimmer golems and got 17 & 14. Wisp dropped 1 and Faun dropped 3. Skunkupines and fangbeasts do not drop any. Blue dire boar dropped 10 this last time. So it does look like the blue boar gives the best return for energy spent.

Yes, so many issues. First, the goals were there for me, but no leaderboard so I used all of me energy and unicorn energy to fight the monsters and then, once energy was depleted, leaderboard showed up. Zero points because I didn’t have energy. So then I used gems to get double for an hour and opened crates of energy that I have saved up and got to first place. Then, today, it wouldn’t let me open them game for several hours. I had to uninstall the reinstall the same several times and then open the game from the App Store before it let me play again. All while the other people in my LB were getting points. I’m sooooooo very disappointed and frustrated!

The Armored Flyger drops Expansion permits (yes a full permit!!!!). The first time it happened I wasn't sure which animal it came from so I was more careful when collecting and it is definitely from the flyger (the Hub confirms it - see link below). The requirements are much less than the 85 gold tokens needed for the Armored lion which drops 3 tickets at a time. The Dark Armored Unicorn requires 40 troll tokens. And especially since sword tokens have now become so easy to get, I highly recommended working to get these.

The Armored Flyger drops Expansion permits (yes a full permit!!!!). The first time it happened I wasn't sure which animal it came from so I was more careful when collecting and it is definitely from the flyger (the Hub confirms it - see link below). The requirements are much less than the 85 gold tokens needed for the Armored lion which drops 3 tickets at a time. The Dark Armored Unicorn requires 40 troll tokens. And especially since sword tokens have now become so easy to get, I highly recommended working to get these.

Turn the WiFi off on your device, reboot your router.
Once the router is back online, do a hard restart of your device & then reconnect to the WiFi. Also, try clearing the cache on your device. Hoping this works for you!

It's difficult to say. In theory, yes you can dump all your crafts at the end of the event and shoot up sharply in points. However, there is a lag at times between items. Sometimes you can delivery a handful but then you'll get a blank spot saying something like "next craft coming soon" or whatever and others it's only one or two before you get the blank. The blank spot lasts varying amounts of times so it can definitely impede players trying this. Last even there several players who had blank spots for days and were unable to deliver certain items.

The other, and in my opinion biggest issue with your strategy is that the last day (and especially last hours) of events, LBs in particular, are buggy as all get out. Sometimes they end an entire hour early, connectivity is a huge issue. I don't even like to wait for the end of a regular event to finish due to the widely known and expected bugs of event endings, I wouldn't ever strategize so that my 'winning' of an event hinged on the final hours. Also, the odds are good that others in your group are also planning on point dumping as it's a common ploy to win. There have been countless times where a person was well ahead in first place when the event ended but an hour later when prizes were delivered they were suddenly knocked back a place or more due to sync issues.

All in all, if you're bound and determined to win the LB then I'd suggest you put yourself ahead of the group and stay there with enough wiggle room that you're comfortable you won't be overtaken by any of the last minute dumpers. This is just my opinion of course, others may feel differently. I'm not a fan of the LB but I've been through enough of them (and saw all the posts from winners/losers) in both CS and DS to have definite opinions on which strategies work best. Good luck and I hope this helps you fine tune your strategy and get the outcome you're going for.

I won the Royal Lion last time, so I had a feeling I would be put in a competitive group this time. I think any top places are beyond what my resources can get me, lol. Happily (with exception of game resets and severe lag) working on those Troll Tokens and any Trade Tickets I get in the end will be a nice little bonus.

Just deciding if I should get Unicorn or Armored Flyger first. Building upgrade vs. land expansion. I have 98 Mithril and it seems a shame to waste them, but I don't know if I have enough time to get the Armored Direwolf this time. Armored Alicorn is also an option, but that's low-priority for me. Decisions, decisions!

Good luck to the players trying to get into the game. As it's a timed event, I hope things are resolved quickly for you guys. Good luck to the Leaderboard participants, too.

Edit: Mystery Chests - I can't help but laugh. I reached 760 to get the double chests and it gave me 20 points combined, which is 14 less than the 34 points the first mystery chest gave me. My second chest gave me two Unicorn Tokens in an event I'm not participating in. Rather than a prize, it's just... very disappointing. :'(

That's exactly what I've found to work too. I've never had my coin totals so well-balanced before in any of the previous Hunts. Usually I'm drowning in Staff Tokens but this time around I fight two or three Blue Boars, craft a Troll Token, fight two more Blue Boars (which is when I find myself short a few Sword Tokens) then I fight a Dark Unicorn and craft another Troll Token.

The numbers vary slightly but by bouncing between the two animals I always have just enough to craft a Troll Token with only a few to spare, there's no huge gap between any two tokens which is a relief compared to years prior. Event monsters dropping double Sword Tokens is definitely one change I hope they keep for future hunts.

Well, I'm just thankful the blue direboar doesn't just span one time a day in this event but can be spawned all the time. ;) Plus, I don't mind LB events. I know most people hate them. My reasoning is pretty simple. No matter if you place, you always win something that helps you in the game and yeah sure I don't like that only first and second players recieve the prise but I don't think its unfair. Its like a competition for a lucky draw. Not everyone is gonna win, there is just 3 big prices and you make your peace with it if you didn't get it. In this case its the LB board. I make my peace with it if I don't place. Sure, I try and win, obviously but if I don't then it doesn't get me down because during the monster hunt itself, I got so greatly rewarded with add drops from the trades ect and I still end up with some trade tickets. Bonus. It may be flawed reasoning but it makes me relaxed during the hunt. Its a game after all. The players who did get to first played/spent hard earned money/or has for whatever their reason, to get there too.

I also understand the moral issue with this, but its once again like a competition. Someone is only able to buy one scratch card and someone else can buy thousands. Its just how we work and no one really knows the players moral standards. Everyone's differs. Is it unfair at times? Yes. But should we allow it to honestly destroy our fun in the game? No. Not in my opinion.

Cows and pigs spawn royal dark unicorns that drop unicorn tokens (used for crafting deliveries for LB event) and sword tokens (trade wagon and MRC crafts for monster hunt).

Wow, that's awful and definitely sounds like something that you could submit a ticket over. If it were me, I'd post in the bugs thread and open a ticket with s8 so they get it first thing Tuesday morning. Unfortunately it won't help you right now but at least there's a possibility you might get the energy before the end of the event.

As of right now, the only way to get the weekly white Alicorns is to purchase them unless you have the Love Shack from the Feb 2013 Valentine's event. Some players have won a weekly Ali by watching the daily videos but those aren't available for everyone and some have never received one despite watching daily. The daily Alicorns are more plentiful and easier to get. Some events offer them as prizes, the Baron's Tent sometimes offers them (the Faerie Ali is there now), they can be crafted via the Mythic Research Center and of course they are occasionally put on sale at half price. With the Monster Hunt happening now, the MRC is your best bet for getting some daily Alis at no cost. The relevant info on the MRC and how to craft Alis can be found through the links in Post 1 of this thread.

It can take quite a while to build up a herd of Alis, I was level 50 for ages before I got most of mine and I can recall feeling frustrated during events sometimes due to lack of energy. But by slowly adding to your collection at whatever pace is comfortable for you, you'll eventually get your own herd. Playing daily and never missing an event are key in my opinion. Through daily play you can slowly accrue enough gems that purchasing them won't break your bank and sometimes events offer weekly energy droppers or white Alis for prizes.

I have quite a few energy dropper so one more or less is not going to make much of a difference, but with the number of plots opening up lately, trade tickets/expansion permit droppers have been a great help.

After not being able to open the game for many hours the other day, yet another issue today... ahhhh! I went on to play and used 25 energy. Leaderboard said 6 points to the next rank. I used all 25 energy on a golem, so should have received 25 points and I?m still at the ?6 points to next rank?. I closed out of The game, force closed and shut down computer. Came back and no energy left and no points added.

Yes this has been happening to some of us apparently. One of the moderators said to submit a ticket to support. Well...good luck with that. I can?t be bothered since the irrelevant and unrelated response from Support will just annoy me.

I can?t imagine shelling out all of those gems for a maybe...and then take 3rd place...and we don?t know how much energy the royal dark unicorn is going to drop (or do we?)!!!! Insanity.

I really like the goal dark unicorn and trade tickets. That?s like having a huge extra supply of energy :-)

And to keep the focus on coins is nice, too. Can build Ali?s etc with them. If people are focusing on spawning dark uni?s for points, they only get shields....seems like a dicey strategy unless you have a sleeper group like I did in the last hunt.

I think the LB setup is the same as that for DS. If you have won the previous LB’s, then they put you in a tougher group with other past winners. I won the last two LB as I was after the MH coins and have quite a few Ali’s. Those two groups were “normal”. My group this time must have a number of gem spenders. I am only after coins and not the top prize so I will not compete but for those disparing being in uneven groups, there is some degree of “fairness” in the groupings I think. This notion of mine has not been confirmed my S8 but other players have made the same observation.

I guess this is the new trend of CS....no energy animals unless you win them in an LB or are lucky enough to get one in the Baron's Tent. I can't remember the last energy item prize in an event. Maybe the plush king and queen? The only choice is buying a weekly Ali for 600 gems.

I agree with all that's been said. I basically play to get the gold coins only & do not focus on the LB. plus, I have hardly ever used gems in the LB's. I mostly fight the all blue dire boars except for one golem for the daily quest. Sadly when I read the stories on here about players spending so much in gems and/or real cash to advance in the LB, what could happen in the last few hours of the contest is for someone to come from way far behind and push them out of 1st or 2nd place. That indeed would feel sickening...but the chances of it happening are there to be sure.

The last few events like this, I just looked at it as a monster hunt & was actually happy to get a second cabbage hut. I'm pretty far behind on the things to craft with the gold tokens, so it's a fun like treasure hunt for me. I'm filled with lots of decisions this time...go for the portal? Go for the Direwolf? Or finish getting my last unicorns, armored Ali's & the glitter Ali.

I have 83 gold tokens and trying to decide what to do. I don?t want the cooking camp, doing fine with what I have. Last MH I bought the wizards portal, then raised it to lvl 2. For 70 tokens I can raise it to lvl 5, effective nrg drop of 8-1=7. Or for 85 tokens I can buy a second portal which will remain at lvl 1 till next MH. This would give effective nrg of 5-1=4 on my present one and 4-1=3 on the new one. Total 7. Hmm writing it down here has helped, I would still be 15 gold tokens ahead, maybe get something else or at least a head start on the next one. Also upgrading would get rid of some spellbound b&b which I continually max on. Everyone that can should make sure they get the 2300 points for the dark unicorn, it is such a pleasure to tap him and see that trade ticket pop out! I?m not really worrying about the LB although I did do a couple of boosts and discovered to my surprise that at least on the last one I got 17 gems back from the trades so it effectively cast me nothing. I am also finding the blue dire boars to be better value than the horses. Wish I?d realised you could get multiple of them last MH, it wasn?t till I chanced upon an earlier post this MH that I realised.

Like many players, my focus is the MH. I will not spend a gem or cash for boosting my chances in the LB - not worth it. I also agree that crafting the armoured dark unicorn is too costly for it’s return.

But I must say all in all the MH is quite satisfactory. I have managed to get to 65 or so troll tokens and will craft my last 2 unicorns (currently underway), and my last 2 armoured flygers. A few MHs ago, I accidentally crafted a golden peacock and found it to be quite valuable after all. So if any tokens are left over, I will craft my remaining 2 peacocks, and then (ambitiously) attempt to stock up tokens for the next hunt. Very nice consolation as I will def not be getting the LB unicorn.

The chests don’t go to storage. All 3 chests opened simultaneously and most likely directed you to open your inventory to see what you got.

It goes over the extreme left combat sword, so to avoid the irritation of the LB popping up constantly as you fight a monster, you are forced to use the sword(s) to the left...except when you run out of energy, the possibility of accidentally auto-purchasing 12 energy for 20 gems is quite high. In the last MH I fell for this gem trap quite a bit so I’m attempting to be careful this time round.

Now my appeal to S8 developers, wouldn’t it simply make more sense to move the point banner to another location on the screen in order to avoid this obvious irritation? Except, of course, if this is a convoluted attempt to get players to keep wasting gems.

If anyone ever gets tempted to buy the boost or statue, just remember the Black Friday sale is less than 3 months away....this is a good time to start saving your gems. If you can manage to get five a day between videos, adventures and the occasional trade depending upon your gold resources, that's enough for a couple of alicorns, instead of blowing all your gems on the possibility of winning a unicorn that you have to fight for.

Since players have been calling for a spend confirmation button since the creation of these games and since the company continues to ignore that call, I imagine their current business model has proved exceptionally profitable for them. People continue to buy gems, which they lose inadvertently and yet they continue to buy gems anyway. Why change something that works?

I lost 2 tokens cuz of a glitch. W/in 15mins of playing, I was able to craft 2 gold coins and then wen I collected on my castle for energy, it glitched like 3x. After defeating a golem, I crafted my 3rd gold token and saw that the first 2 didnt register. Event items are sometimes released after the event (like months or years after) as sale items but off the top of my head I don't know that I've seen an LB in these sales. But lately, every Monday has had a Darling Doorbuster sale which offers an older animal for a limited time sale in the Market. As for the Glass decos; (Carriage, Dragon Statue, Palace) they were offered in the Baron's Tent originally which does recycle prizes so there's an excellent chance you'll be able to get those items. And of course with the Black Friday sale, it's a bunch of older items brought back.

So all in, the answer is: "Yes, you'll be able to get another chance at prizes you missed but you won't know which ones will be offered or how or when; it's all random and up to the whims of s8!"

I posted on my wall how much I loved the Dark Unicorn Statue but refused to pay full price for it since a) I'm not doing the LB and b) it's only useful for a few days before becoming a deco. So to see that it is on sale makes me very happy and I already bought mine. I just really like the black and purple look of it and am already trying to figure out where it should go beside my Onyx Temple.

Agree the dark unicorn is a prize worth winning for those trade tickets; between that and the tweaks to balance token drops this LB has some decent things on offer for those who don’t want to compete. Balance hasn't been working so well for me. The first few days it was great, staffs which had been maxed out from the last MH were slowly going down, I could control the swords with unicorns, and shields with blue dire boars...but, now shields and swords are maxed and I can't get enough staffs. Any hints on what works for all of you?

Ouch! That's a toughie and also an excellent example of why they should raise the Troll Token max to 120 like all the rest. I suppose you could always craft some of the lesser animals (Dragons/Manticore) if you're not maxed on them . You'll get rid of enough Troll Tokens to accept any that drop from the fountain and the other materials required for the lesser animals is negligible so there's practically no real loss there.

Congrats on leveling up your WPs the whole way I'm currently working on the Tokens to get mine to level 4. It's been hectic in real life so I've spent the first half of the hunt only logging in once a day. Now that I've got some free time I'm devoting myself to getting those portal levels maxed. There's just something so satisfying about clicking on a building and not seeing that green 'Upgrade' bar.

No, it definitely doesn't work that way. I won the main prize in ALL but one LB (since they appeared) and all my groups were pretty "easy". I have a few daily alis and spend those 7 gems for double points at the end, but that's it. I think I never finished with more than 7000 points. Usually something around 5000-6000 points gives me the prize.

The Troll Token drops are random from the fountain. I've seen others say they get about 1 token out of every 5 collections but that of course will vary from player to player. I've also seen others post that when their fountains seem to be withholding the tokens they store it for a moment then replace it on their board and get a token on the next collection. Again, it's all totally random and these are merely anecdotal evidences at best but sometimes it feels better to actively try something than just cross your fingers. I hope you'll get at least one token before the hunt is over so you feel you've not wasted your tokens.

It usually drop 1-3 tokens a day during MH... except this time wen it wasnt dropping any 1st few days. Since the fix, I barely got my 3rd one today which is very upsetting but gold token isn't a guarantee. All in all, the fountain is worth it thou, to me anyway.

My Lorelei?s Fountain haven?t dropped a single coin yet, only water! Not even a fish.. Anyone else having these Problems?? I have just traded the fountain 3 days ago. No I am really disappointed about loosing the 20 Gold Tokens for a simple well :-(



The Troll Token drops are random from the fountain. I've seen others say they get about 1 token out of every 5 collections but that of course will vary from player to player. I've also seen others post that when their fountains seem to be withholding the tokens they store it for a moment then replace it on their board and get a token on the next collection. Again, it's all totally random and these are merely anecdotal evidences at best but sometimes it feels better to actively try something than just cross your fingers. I hope you'll get at least one token before the hunt is over so you feel you've not wasted your tokens.

sigh...I feel like an idiot. I totally forgot about the fountain token drops this Monster Hunt. My lovely fountain has been sitting in storage this whole entire time! :( Out she comes!



Am I the only one who is not getting points on saddles and helms after crafting them and submitting them? This is very frustrating considering the amount of time and energy and resources it takes to craft them!
Nope. There was a thread started in the bugs section about it. There have been other complaints in this thread as well.
