I think it auto-starts after a couple days but the event is only 10 days long so you have to finish it within that time period.

I'm pretty sure during the last DT someone posted in the forum that it now auto-starts 24 hours after the event began. I'm going to go have a look-see at the last thread to be sure.

EDIT: Just checked last month's DT thread and it was definitely stated that the story automatically started 24 hours after the event went live.

That's why I don't fully participate in all the events. For Leaderboard and World Events, I never go all out with feeding or anything. I just go as far as I can with what I do naturally and hope for some rewards.

I can’t remember the last time I managed to breed the common dragon in time to finish an event. Given the wrong dragons seem to be in the craft shop we should obviously delay starting till this is fixed if we want to avoid the fiasco that occurred a couple of events ago. Not sure if I can be bothered to even start this time. I’ll wait to see whether food and expansion aids are included in rewards.

hey all, you may start breeding the common dragon now, hatch & place it. it auto completes, been that way with every Dragon tales I've done. and I craft things overnight so when it's needed I can collect. I use 180 for level 14 level up part.also, I do the 1st 2 acts early so I have to wait for 2 days then I build up my food again, same with chapter 7. do that and get dragon and work on feeding him for a day or 2... the tales is only event I DON"T USE A TON OF GOLD FOR.

Good, the food requirement is lower than in previous Tales. 285,139 is reasonable compared to 345,175 or 355,375. Fortunate for me I just have to raise less than 80K food because I didn't bother to feed any dragon in the last Leaderboard.

So I was about to hatch smitten from the craft building ( I had just hatched my first metal and put him on the habitat). Then my game reloaded, as it often does and loses all the progress i had just worked on for last several minutes, and when I hit place on the smitten dragon. It showed as a metal egg on the nest. I thought for sure it would update. I've closed the game several times and restarted and it is hours later. It still shows tht Metal egg where smitten dragon should be? Maybe it will hatch as the smitten dragon? Ive had similar things happen like small glitches but it seems to later catch up and shows the correct egg. I'm worried I won't have the smitten dragon for event.

First try got a winter then I activated the 2nd breeding den and got a 5hrs with Light and Water dragons!

I on the other hand am a victim of their inability to fix the constant, inexplicable resets.

I evolved the Smitten Dragon to level seven as required for the 5th chapter (actually it auto-completed cause it was evolved back in chapter 4), collected and put out the Rose Path, picked up the Beloved Bands from my breeding dens, started the quest and got the next chapter notification, all within less than a minute. Then I started crafting a Lovegram and closed the game.

When I came back to it a couple of hours later the craft was ready for collection so I tapped it and .... put it in storage .... The result ... I lost the compleation of Rose Path act, which amounted to 10 hours of gaming time because I now have to repeat the collection of the required materials and crafting of the Path.

The game was really far more stable and never had these resetting issues when the team was less obsessed with blocking the *****ing that went on in the battle tournaments.

I on the other hand am a victim of their inability to fix the constant, inexplicable resets.

I evolved the Smitten Dragon to level seven as required for the 5th chapter (actually it auto-completed cause it was evolved back in chapter 4), collected and put out the Rose Path, picked up the Beloved Bands from my breeding dens, started the quest and got the next chapter notification, all within less than a minute. Then I started crafting a Lovegram and closed the game.

When I came back to it a couple of hours later the craft was ready for collection so I tapped it and .... put it in storage .... I woiuld be so mad! I have had to evolve a dragon more than once though. Even had the phone notification still saying the dragon had evolved to level 4. But after placing it and a reset of a frozen game it was level 3. Yet I knew I evolved the correct dragon and phone notification proved it.

Yep, with 24 hours to go before I will require the Enamored dragon, I've landed another Super Rare (Social dragon at 21 hours)! It has been the same for a long time now with Dragon Tales when required common dragons suddenly become Super to Ultra Rare to breed to force gold spending. DS game management should just be honest/up front and not pretend that is not the case and just make the task to breed an actual super rare to ultra rare for Tales. Then some people might even find it a challenge and go for it rather than make it appear that it is only asking for a common dragon to be bred. Keep trying and don't give up! I hope you can get it!

When I first started this game it was fun to try and do the tales, storybooks and battles...S8 used to give us time to breathe in between. Now it is back to back “Adventures” to see how much money we are willing to spend to get the special dragons. Sometimes I wonder if the game is worth it anymore as S8 is taking all the fun out of the game. They change thing all the time to make it harder and harder to complete any task and to make sure we spend money...I know game makers need to make money, but the games are supposed to be fun also. What will S8 do if they keep irritating people enough and they lose their customers...they are doing the same thing with Fantasy Forest also and it is becoming just as frustrating. Many people have complained about these things, but S8 just turns a deaf ear and doesn’t listen...even though they say to give them feedback about their games! S8, please listen to us and make your games fun again!

Thanks again for the tip as this combo worked for me as well. Got Enamored on my third attempt in speed breeding mode. Also got a two bonus dragons along the way! :-)

So for everyone else still trying, I'll share a couple of tips and bonus info below:

Before trying for Enamored again, I had a Bingo task to complete which required me to breed with a Diamond dragon. Thinking it would be a quick 30 second breed, I went for Diamond and Forest, but to my surprise, a 20 hour egg popped up in my breeding den. On looking it up, it turned out to be a limited Ringbearer dragon egg! An unexpected but welcome result (and possible glitch) as the breeding guide says to breed yellow and green to get it with no mention of the Diamond+Green option. Give it a try for an easy way to get this limited dragon.

With the above 20 hour egg surprise and eight hours to go before needing an Enamored to hatch, I decided to speed breed. Use a 10x breeding boost if you want to save your gold spend (i.e. reduces gold spend by nine for any egg with breeding time of 10 hours or more). I used 5x as I only had a couple of 10x left. You'll need to activate a 5x or 10x hatching boost as well if you don't have any spare nests. In this mode, breeding behaviour reverted back to normal for me. I got Winter on my first attempt, followed by Snow Elf, and finally Enamored (all Commons). Prior to this it was all rares/super rares along with two Snow Elves in 12 attempts. Did score a Disco dragon along the way, which surprisingly I didn't have yet. I ended up spending 53 gold speed breeding and hatching which I didn't mind as I scored a surprise limited dragon along with the Enamored which is listed as a limited dragon as well (i.e. should take a little bit of the sting out for those that opt to buy it on sale for 200 gold currently).

Yep, it certainly is! :-) I was too quick with my calculations. It actually starts by reducing gold spend by 10 for any egg with breeding time of 11 or more hours (and x-1 for x=10 hours or less); and increasing by +1 gold every 6 minutes thereafter for the one hour boost. I also use this trick every time when I purchase the Diamond Temple boost when it goes on sale. Saves a ton of gold and yields plenty of Diamond type dragons at a hefty discount especially if you have 2 dens going and 4 nests!

That was why I didn't use my 10x boosts for this speed breed as I save them up for speed breeding Diamonds, though I haven't felt like it for the past year as my interest for DS has waned quite a bit with all the issues mentioned here in the forum (i.e. too many events with no breaks, often two running concurrently, with lots of rigging to force people to spend gold). Ramped up a bit again this month as I like quite a few of the Valentine dragons. :-)

Not knowing how many materials I have or need. S8 has made a real mess of things with there changes. And why can't we see these materials in our storage????

I suggest carry on with the tales keep trying. I got it with Blue Moon (white-blue super rare) and Moonlight (white-blue super rare) after trying for 6 times. 24 hours behind is OK if you can't get it to the end, at least you'll get Romantic dragon. This is what I do when I am behind. Good luck.

While waiting for chapter 8 to open I bred diamond with forest as a last ditch effort to get the limited time dragon. I read it has been possible with that combo. And I got a quetzal. I've tried for that a thousand times. So I'm happy about that but tlk about inconvenient 32 hour wait time. I heard they come when it's most inconvenient. Can't breed enamored with smitten until after chapter 9 will hve opened. Finally got my second diamond though!
I still have no way of knowing how many materials I need to quest for to do the archway. Since I'm using the spell shop to crft a gemstone dragon that is going to be obtained a "different and secret new way" lol. They really need to fix it so u can see your materials without the shop I mean come on s8. Think..think.. or just play the game would you.

Another Tales Event has been made impossible to finish. Since the last debacle I have refused to spend Gold to finish. This is because it appears that S8 is deliberately injecting too many actions totally dependent on luck.
Perhaps its time to follow GhostieMoms example - #63 - and simply stop trying to beat the odds.

increasing the hatch/ evo time of tales dragon sucks.
with crafting/ hatching time increased, by the time crafting is completed, it already passed my bed time to put them on nest. and speeding up crafting is "expensive" in terms of gold.

not helping is that ch7 breeding task gave me a titan. (useless fail now that gemstone dragons are going away too)

in the past we can see how many quest item we have in storage, now we could only check in craft shop , another inconveniences that is not helping in the aspect of planning ahead during tales.

Same.. I was already behind from trying to craft abgemstone dragin during tales.. And the romantic dragon sucks. I can't get through win 1 right with romantic dragon. And i already have it at level 9. Just had to use diamond against a dragon that romantic can't get just to get to another fight. Already a chapter behind.

Probably a light dragon. The red and white are gonna break out of pink. Or remain a pink type dragon. And white and red can combine but none equal 9 hours. Neither do any diamond and pink. Diamond and red. Or diamond and white. So most likely just a white light dragon. Unless theres a limited one im not thinking of.

Does craft a love gram mean start crafting or finishing craft during this act in chapter 9? Also is there anyway to see how mny secret kisses or notes you have while the spell shop is being used. I stupidly started crafting one of the gemstone dragons because they are getting rid of them and i felt panicked with such short notice. Now I may have messed up tales for myself. Not knowing how many materials I have or need. S8 has made a real mess of things with there changes. And why can't we see these materials in our storage????

From previous experiences, it is to finish it. Otherwise, it would have said "Start" in the beginning just like "Start crafting a Rose Tree" in chapter 6, act 1. Regardless, it would be safe to start crafting one ahead of time and collect it when asked for at act 4 as you need a total of three Love Grams ready in order to craft the Wedding Archway in chapter 10. Happy crafting and make sure you have 2 small rubies as well for the Archway.

I don?t think the Romantic Dragon can beat anything in the battle arena. I?ve been trying every two hours all day long. I have it up to level 13. Lose, next hour defeat challenger with something else, next hour Romantic is healed & ready for a new challenger, another loss. Reapeat, repeat repeat all day long. What a loser, good for nothing Dragon to have up to 13.

This is sadly true, there are few dragons

Romantic is Hearth, Fire with Event Rarity

Event Rarity only have advantage versus Common and Rare dragons, is neutral to event dragons and lose vs Super Rare dragons.

Heart (Valentine) is neutral, dont have good or bad matches.
Red dont have a good coverage of arena dragons:

Win vs : Green, Dino, Zodiac, Metal, Soccer
Lose to: Yellow, Blue, Stone, Tropic, Champion

From my observations:

Dino only have single color rare and Super rare dragons, this are the only dragons that Romantic can **** consistently IF HIS LEVEL IS NEAR

Zodiac only have Dual color dragons (Zodiac + Pure color) and all are Rare dragons , this depend of the second color, but this color is not common in arena (there are few zodiacs, i believe 14 with only 1 event-rare)

Metal have Single color Rares , and Triple color event-rares , Single color metal are easy to ****, Triple color event are almost imposible

Soccer dont have dragons or i dont get any soccer dragon

Green dragons: almost none pure dragon, few double colors dragons , almost all Super rares (Landworm GrenFire nv 14 can and will **** you 100% times ), there a few Event-rare

All color that are neutral : only Rares and Common , an only if Romantic have more or equals levels



In resumen:

Level up Romantic until have enough levels for your arena matches, prioritize level up over Arena matches.

If one of color is Yellow, Blue, Stone, Tropic, Champion dont use Romantic.

If is Super or Ultra rare dont use Romantic.

Single color: Green, Dino, Zodiac, Metal, Soccer use Romantic

Any other color combination : If rarity is less than Super Rare use Romantic

Just a tip: hope it may help for future events. But I always start breeding about 2 days before it is needed. And it seems to work out that I get enough fails and finally get the required common dragon needed. I may get it the day it is need but most the time it is the next day. I just make sure I have everything completed or set up for completion so I can get thru 2 days quickly. This is what has worked for me.

I found that if I breed the wanted dragon before I commence the Tales, I get it first time. If I try after commencing Tales, it takes the first five days trying before I breed it. This is why this forum is so helpful to let us know which dragon to breed before hitting Start button for Tales.

I usually start questing as soon as I have the first dragon hatched, I mostly evolve overnight and the last decoration is usually 3x the "material" which is 4x quest 1 and 2x quest 2 for each, so 12 quest 1s and 6 quest 2s total alone for chapter 10. I craft two "materials" before chapter 10, trying to squeeze in quests whenever possible. You really have to plan ahead and time it right, and hope for no big hiccups.
The last dragon I put in my trade machine takes now 24hrs, it is turning in some star dust or something in a bottle. I was so close to have all black gems for crafting the gem dragon, now I won't :(

I raised my Romantic up to level 12 ahead of time (i.e. giving it as much chance as possible since it is required in Chapter 10 anyway to be at L12) and then started to fight with it then. Won the fight in Chapter 8 quite easily; won the first fight against a Fluffy L12, but then lost to Turtle L12 (i.e. too much to hope for). ****ed it off while Romantic was in the Spa, and now it's lost to Comet L11. You're right, even at level 12, Romantic is not a great fighter. Haven't played Tales for a while, I like the Valentine dragons, so decided to play this one. Requiring pretty useless event dragons to win in the Battle Arena is another hurdle and pain in the butt, together with longer breeding and increased questing time required to get to the end is another nail in the coffin for people playing Tales. Did not miss Tales with my hiatus, and will go back to skipping it again as it's no longer relaxing to play it.

I think I’m done with this tales. Day behind. Romantic is only level 9 and can’t fight its way out of a paper sack. Still need 30 hours of questing to get the materials to be able to craft the archway needed plus time to craft it and its parts. Just not enough time.

I had to Ultimate one of the battles for Romantic since it's so bad in the arena. Got lucky with the other two. But I did have to use other dragons with some opponents because I kept getting dragons that would never get beaten by Romantic (level 14 Gossamer, etc). Pre-crafted the arch and had it waiting and had already raised all the dragons to where they needed to be. So now just working on the last 4 battles (which will likely take all day).

I sympathize with everyone who got stuck because they couldn't breed Enamored. That was me with the last Tales and New England.

My Romantic was only level 9 for the Ch. 8 fight. Finally cleared that and tossed him in the evo. Once he got out, I fed him up to 12 and he did okay on his two fights for Ch.9. Not great, but we got through it in a reasonable amount of time for the Chapter clock.

My arena was been different lately. Every other opponent is a level 14 diamond hybrid. I've even seen a few Champion opponents out-of-tournament.

Now, I'm waiting for Ch. 10 to unlock and focusing on finishing the quests (4 more to go). Good luck to everyone still slaving away at this thing!

Preparing for any goof ups tomorrow by starting the crafting of the Wedding Archway and leaving it in the shop til tomorrow (my last day of Dragon Tales) and I suggest my fellow Caretakers do this as well. Try as hard as you can to finish act 4 before 10:30am PST.

No, you get the same time as normal 10 days.

I start and complete chapter 1, then I spend 5 gold and start straight into and complete and that gives me 18 hours or so to craft and hatch the 1st dragon and start questing. I then follow the chapters after that but I will speed the evolve up and take it up to level 14 straight away, so I spent another 27 gold, which is okay.

I have no access to play the game during my work day so this is how I deal with Tales, it works for me. Hope that helps to understand other players strategies.

In saying that my games is Lvl 200, 4 nests, breeding den and roost along with 2 evolution dens!:)

another strange phenomena:

this is almost 83 mins after reset.
before to make sure my game sync , i have both properly closed , and forced close my game after reset multiple times (making sure, also to check on number of request answered).
83 mins after game reset, i suddenly received a map request from my nrb that labelled 18 hrs ago!

wonder how that happened?
if my nrb maxed out already yesterday when sending out map request, then, shouldn't i be able to receive the request immediately after reset o' clock?

Yep, that was what I actually did. Cleared the arena with low percentage dragons and fought against dragons with 55% chance which was the highest that I was presented with, i.e. Turtle L12 (L then cleared); Comet L11 (L then cleared); Spell L13 1mbb, 2bbb; Awoken L12 1mbb; Awoken L12 (Cleared); Pixie L12 1mbb, bmU. After 6 losses (in between clearing) with trying to win the last battle required for Romantic, I opted to Ultimate out with my free gold (i.e. never had to buy gold, earned all my gold from gifts and then GPDs) as Chapter 10 had just started. Won't give TL an actual cent with how they've run this game down; although the new Codex is a good thing that's spiked my interest again.

Now, I'm in good shape with the Wedding Archway being crafted and I can focus on winning the final four battles using my go to arena dragons. Should go okay unless it is rigged again. The last win required for the Enamored was definitely rigged as whenever I experience being stuck at a Battle Arena round, it is usually at least 8 to 20+ losses with the dealt damage to my chosen dragon generally the same with each of the opponent dragon's strike; a tell tale clue that I've been able to spot from experience. So, having to Ultimate out with 12 gold in Tales is not too bad versus 30 in a tournament. Also, now with the generally useless gifts that TL have offered to watch a video (which was previously gold), I save these now to accelerate battles when I need to.

I have been trying to breed the Enamored dragon since it came out. I'm using both breeding den and breeding roost non stop. I'm also using up all my speeding boosts too! Still no enamored for me :( :( :(
I've missed out on so many tales for the same reason.
It's getting boring and still no codex for me either.

I used to have the unchecking box problem every time I sent requests. And the error messages. So annoying.

Through trial and error, I think I figured out the problem. It's Stormy. You have to send Stormy a request first. Once that single request is sent, reopen the list and check off everyone else. It should work normally then.

I started doing this about a year ago and haven't had boxes uncheck themselves or the dumb, incorrect error messages ("you've already sent today ...") popping up since. I do it this way for both the maps and the Tales requests.

When you exit out of the friends screen after sending a single request to Stormy, all you have to do is tap the Tales icon on the righthand side of the game screen and then tap the "Ask" button again. That will reopen your friends list so you can send more requests.

The World Event starting about gave me a heart attack! I thought the Tales had ended early.

Out of post-palpitation anxiety, I spent a little gold to move my Tales along. It was only 6 gold (four to speed the last 46 min. of the last quest, and two to auto-finish the last Love Gram), but I pride myself in NOT using gold on the Tales.

I messed up, though- I overslept today, so am a few hours behind my handwritten schedule for Ch.10. Arg! At least I was awake at game reset time in the wee hours and sent out my friend requests before I fell asleep.

So, my Arch is crafting, got a timer set for it, and then I just have the four battles- and they will be the easy tourney battles! Yay!! Usually when the Tales overlap with a tourney, I end up with the hard, high-level battles in the last Chapters. This is MUCH better.

13 hrs. left, so I should be good!

And I dont want things stuck on breeding roost As I try for XO dragon. I lost 20 hours yesterday with a fire dragon stuck on the roost. I still have to craft the kiss dragon from the fights and the lovers dragon. Are either of these able to be stored before placing on nests. I could not store the crafted gem dragons.

It used to be that I would craft Adventure Tickets or Farm Boosts with the token that they give as the final prize as I have all the dragons they put out for crafting with the token. This time around though I crafted the Lovers Dragon just so I can disenchant it at the Dragon Portal for 100 points of Essence :D
