I haven't noticed a difference, tbh. My 12Shaman and 13Glasswing are dropping all the opponents under level 13 in one round, just like they always have. Not a fan of the boss, though, so I'm not worried about finishing this one.

Plus, I was hoping after the last two tourneys they had returned to a reasonable, fun number of rounds. Guess not. 42 rounds is obnoxious, and it's too much to keep on top of, imho. I don't want to be chained to my device non-stop for 3-4 days, setting alarms every hour. I miss the flash tourneys and the old, shorter non-flash tourneys. The 24-rounders we just had were fun. Games are supposed to be fun, they aren't supposed to feel like a chore.

I had some issues at the beginning too with the low levels. I usually bash my way through but even at 90% odds I was losing. I've been using magic and I'm starting to move at a better pace. Not sure why but I'm mixing it up more.

Have changed by dragons around, am using low level dragons with attributes that the competition falls over and stopped using higher level champs. The only reason I am using higher levels is for Bingo tasks, it appears to be working with the only drawback is that I have to think about which dragon to use and not just go to my favorite champion.

WOW! Can't believe I finished! In the past, a round in the last quarter that took more than 3 attempts spelled doom for me because each round thereafter would take more than 5 attempts and I'd run out of time. Round 38 with Highland was my only "insanely crazy, pulling hair out" round. In the end I had about 37 losses in 42 rounds which is awesome for me.

Yes there are many issues reported. Some say they have to leave their game running for a period of time for the update to fully complete... I assume that's without using it ...nor it going into lock/sleep mode lol
Here's the link to the DS update thread (the new land ...expansion was the main thing although they did improve performance as well) I'm waiting to update even though with my backup I can roll back to the older version.

I concur. Using high level (like 14 and 15) champs or any dragon against opponents less than level 6 can result in early losses (remember the disposable Fire strategy against champs, it can work in reverse). Some people I've seen use the same dragon throughout most tourneys which I don't think is a good idea either because there are others that would be more effective.
For me I use color advantages when choosing dragons and never go on a whim or whatever dragon I feel like using. This is how I win tourneys on a fast pace and haven't lost out on a tourney since early 2015. Sometimes when facing champions I look at the color of the dragon itself and and use a dragon that would beat that color just for fun.

Totally agree skyharbor602 also use colours and try to keep champions use to a minimum. I must admit though I used to used maybe 2 champions and a diamond but there wasn’t any challenge in that. Try now to use level 15s to only a few.

Thanks everyone. I tried both Metal 13 and Diamond 15 again plus Quetzal 1, Fire 1, Fire 1, Topaz 4 ... and still losing.

What's interesting is prior to Tombstone I based my choices on color types & odds, not opponent level. For example in Tombstone I used Polynesian 14 against Jack O' 1.

After Tombstone I made two changes. I played lower level dragons and tried to add more variety in my line-up. I'm sure the answer is much more complicated (at least for me) but I haven't completed a tournament since Tombstone.

After numerous losses I got bored and looked for creative choices based on color types. Highland is mostly green with a red-mane, found amoung purple thistles and the Scottish flag is blue and white. Quite a few colors but it was sadly entertaining.

Darn for some reason the response I typed up for you didn't post yesterday. I had a table with percentages of various dragons for you.

I hope you beat Stellar but if you didn't this info may help...
I used my Super Rare (SR) Messenger Purple/white level 11. You may not have one so
Use a SR or Unbreedable that has *Purple, Mythic, Gold or Dino (and no Black). Leave out Yellow or Metal if possible,
*these colors are from the color-type table list that's posted on page 2.

A pure Champion has highest % probability of getting a critical hit of 55% for level15 (& little better if it has one of the aforementioned colors types) At level 13-14 Champ drops to 45% then to 35% for level 1-12.

SR Messenger level 15 has 45% as does
SR Ballet purple/pink or
SR Peacock Purple or
SR Planet Red/Purple or
Unbreedable Crypt Purple/White/Green or
SR Hydra Mythic/Green or

I've always been able to beat champs with Fire or Metal, after 2 solid days on Highlander, I finally got it with Playful, which I had tried 3 times prior.... give that a shot...

For anyone who is stuck, I adhered to the colour reccomendations list for every battle and flew through with only one loss. My level 10 Mythril from the mine took down most of them, and I also used kitsune for the ones that can be beaten with pink. Chroma, and Dark Omen were also very useful. I'm sorry that I didn't keep track of exactly qhat i used for each battle, but stick to the colour reccomendations list!

I would suggest you to use metal.. it has worked for me to take down Tribal in all tournaments till now... more effective at level 13-15.

Thanks again. I just beat Highland with Metal. It was my 3rd attempt but this time I leveled Metal up to 14.

After numerous losses I got bored and looked for creative choices based on color types. Highland is mostly green with a red-mane, found amoung purple thistles and the Scottish flag is blue and white. Quite a few colors but it was sadly entertaining.


Metal is a good fighter against champs.. leveling it all the way to 15 is advantageous.

This is the first tournament I ever completed. Before this I skipped all the tournaments because beating 42 rounds with multiple champs and level 20s seemed impossible when I didn?t have a single champ or level 15 dragon. For this one, I used my 700k saved food to level up my diamond, infinity and Mithril from mining to level 15 and was able to use these to beat the champs. For the other level 20s I beat a few with level 5-10 dragons with type advantages while Mithril was healing. The type chart is definitely super useful.

Congratulations!! Woo-hoo for your winning your first Tourney!! I'm where you were knowing it's unlikely to win without a Champ. I've only one level 15 dragon Fire now. Doubt I'll get Mithril like you did... I've only 241 ores with 1 evolution going non-stop since Mithril came in the mine... Too bad Storm8 didn't give a month like most mine dragons (1 Week short) so maybe next time! I'm hoping for 24 round or flash to be my 1st Tourney completed.

Oh yeah Mithril is awesome battle dragon! Yes I'd definitely spend the gold for Mithril if it was reasonable but now in the craft shop it says almost 400 gold to get the remaining ores. I was like,"really? NOT" lol

Looks like i’m Gonna miss this one. Which sucks because I really liked it. I just had too much trouble with every dragon starting at Emerald Knight. They were all taking way too many tries to go down and there’s too far to go with no time left.

I only have 2 level 15 dragons and it's because i was looking for a prime dragon. My best fighters are lvl 10

This one was problematic for a few reasons--the 2 biggies being that its Christmas and I have young kids so that's #1 and that the dragons gave me a hard time. JUST finished but had to rush through several rounds (after being stuck for a couple days!!) and also used ultimate for a champ 20 round on both of my games. Haven't done that in a long time.
For anyone still trying to finish, I'll offer my winners of final rounds below. One thing that stood out to me for this tourney is that starting with Magic had WAY better success than starting with Bash. Bash is always my 'go to' but it just wasn't working.
