So I splurged and got a penguin.
At 100gems it seems priced right.
Black Friday sales were very underwhelming for me so I still have a lot of gems saved up.
Probs will pretty useless drops , but it's cute.
If anyone wants to see one you're welcome to visit ...
You'll find it next to my Snowy Workshop (towards the western side of my kingdom).

Edit: also got the Kingdom Inn.

I was searching for something, tree or present (couldn't remember) for coins, remembered I got multiple good things from it last year and not from the only thing I bought with gems... It's always luck you need too, I know....

But for now... What's interesting?
Pinguin (100) looks good! But what kind of fish does it drop and is it always a guaranteed drop of at least 1 fish (if you're not maxed on that fish ofcourse)?
Merry Reindeer (68) drops sounds good! The milk, glimmerdust and fertilizer are always welcome!
Or hoping for expansion permits or something else I can use from a tree?

The penguin has great animation. I like having it in my kingdom... the drops are underwhelming though. I wish they would have made it drop BLUE FISH... we already have a few sources of Butterfish

I have actually discovered that butterfish are very handy. I have been doing the faerie adventures to increase the cash in my kingdom for the mermaid quest line because those adventures don't cost any coins so everything you make is pure profit 😉😉 so I am definitely going to go for a few penguins if they drop butterfish.

defenitely do NOT buy the 3 chop christmas tree for gems. more often than not you'll get stuff like wood and sap.

I purchased the penguin as well, because penguins are my favorites animals. I do wish we had some sort of habitat looking place for him (like the reindeer has a stable.). For now he is by the Ice Castle and the Winter Building I got last Christmas sale that drops wisps every collection (oh it looks like it is on sale this time too, I didn?t see it on my game though because I already have it!)
It does not look like the penguin drops fish every collection. I got coins and a sugar cane crop. I guess he was expensive for his unique and adorable factor. I am happy I bought him still. He could drop more coins though..

Question, does the reindeer stable come with a reindeer in it or does it come empty? Is the separate reindeer for sale right now able to be placed inside the reindeer stable?

The reindeer stable comes with the reindeer in it. It is from an event way back, and AFAIR getting the reindeer in it was the final step. The separate reindeer is not related. I can"t remember the event where we could make it, but I have 3

Unless the drops are different to change the name from Classic Christmas Tree to Classic Winter Tree?
The tree looks the same in every detail. Last year's tree was coin purchase and had 0/3 simple drops like wood, mermaid scales, petals.. nothing very important. I still have 50 pieces in my inventory but left them there as drops were all flagged and was a pity to continue chopping.
Maybe this year chops and drops have changed.

So far the 75 gem Xmas tree has not given anything good got 2 and regret wasting gems...so not worth chopping the best thing I got was the blue stone you craft to upgrade buildings....thought it would be more like rainbow pots but just absolute junk and stuff I was maxed out of already my advice don't waste your gems maybe closer to Xmas they might have something better for us..

As a player who don’t buy gems I had high hopes for spending coins to buy the tree and getting various rewards
Im a lower level guy and even a mermaid scale is a somewhat rare item for me.
Today is Thursday but sadly no tree for coins were added... sigh

I still have about 50 coin trees from last year and they were not cheap even if CScurrency. I didn't chop them all for the fact the items dropped were always blackflagged as they are the simple drops all players would have.. wood, corn, tomatoes, 1energy. Seeing this year they are gem prices.. hope for whoever buys them they do drop better stuff.

However it's a pity that simple players won't be able to put out symbolic decorations due to the gem cost. Christmas is for everyone. The spirit of sharing the merry celebration will be missing and not due to players fault just because they don't have gems.

I wish upon a star that S8 does offer some kind of Christmas Tree that is within reach of all players to share this season's celebrations.

I thought about buying the reindeer stable. But can sombody tell me how the rough estimation of the drop rate of sugar and ice cream is?

I either get a sugar or an ice cream every collection.

I consider it a 'precious' building and keep it out all year, since I crafted it years ago, even if it's seasonal due to the drops. Drops as said are Icecream or Sugar.. calculating more Icecream than Sugar. My Icecream stock is always good thanks to this building and saves me the 18energy needed to make and collect one piece.
It's a 3x3, drops once a day and has an animation of the Reindeer moving and his nose that lights up.
