Just realized this goal on RS and wondered why some neighbors were sending me purple knobs as gifts and requests for metal sheet and black kettle. I don't have the coins for one Turkey Cooked, yet but will soon have one and maybe a couple more. Hopefully this one timed goal I can get a jump on and finish.

I am so excited to FINALLY have this appliance, I remember looking at it in my locked appliances last year thinking man I wish I had that it would be perfect for Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas. Some people eat turkey for Christmas too right? Lol

I'm going to rant here, but honestly... these goals are JUST. SO. UNNECESSARY.

Was there really any incentive to release them at this specific time??? The November 9 goals just ended. There's a Black Friday sale (presumably) coming up tomorrow. The dust has barely settled (and wasn't going to settle) in this game before this other goal popped up. And Thanksgiving has already happened; the theme of these goals makes no sense for the timing of their release.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for those players who wanted this appliance back (and new recipes, whoo~), but can we seriously just get a break from these back-to-back goals?? There doesn't NEED to be constant activity in this game to make it enjoyable - in fact, the overloading of goals is causing it to be the opposite, and I've started skipping many goals for this reason.

I logged into my game tonight to collect tips and relax by playing around with my resto design. These goals are the last thing I want to do, and even though I recognize there are players who do not celebrate Thanksgiving, for those people who are celebrating, it's really crummy to find that these were released on a night when people are gathering with their friends and family. The "necessity" to complete goals should not supersede wanting to spend time with loved ones, or just wanting to have a break in general.

I think this is a tipping point for me specifically because, really, NOTHING would have been affected if this goal had not been released. As a potential timeline:

Nov 9 - Harvest Goals started
Nov 23 - Harvest Goals ended
Nov 24 - Black Friday sale starts
Nov 27 - Black Friday sale ends*

*this is operating under the assumption sales would last through the weekend - considering we've seen weekend sales and Cyber Monday extensions in previous years, it's not too bold to assume so.

So, that leaves Nov 28, 29, and 30 left in the month. In my opinion, this would have been a great, and much-appreciated, little refresher before potential goals on December 1.

Really, I think this update would have benefited MUCH BETTER by being more like a "Surprise! Happy Thanksgiving; here's a little gift from us to you for the holiday!" kind of update - just the appliance released to the public (with or without the three additional recipes), with no ill-timed associated goal line. It's too much, and though I don't have high hopes for the rest of the year, I really do hope the timing of the goals (and BETWEEN goals) will be much, much better in 2018 :(

Im an IDIOT with a capital I. When will I learn?! I just sold all 10 of these appliances. Knowing they brought back old stuff. Just knowing this wouldnt be one of them.

Now I need to build more and with my neighbors that'll take forever and a day. I like the old stuff coming back. Plus 3. Well used to. Back when I had a multitude of appliances in stock. Boo!

Agree wholeheartedly with you, pixie.. It would have been so much better if they just re-release the appliance and even if it doesn't come with the new recipes, I'm cool with it too.

Their timing should be few days after the sale, a week at the very least. So that players have time to earn a bit more coins to spend on the appliances / recipes after their spending spree. Players can also choose whether or not to participate in the goal. Moving the goal after the sale will allow players to purchase whatever stuff they've coveted for a long time, rather than spending them on appliances with recipes that they may, or may not unlock in time. So again, it's really heartless of S8 to release it before big sales. Then again, the sales only occur once a year? Still means that S8 gotta work on their timing tho.

It's so difficult to redecorate these days without draining my coins and having hundreds of counters taking over precious space..together with the stress of finishing the goals on time.. and abysmal profits. /sigh I guess that they choosing recipes that have low servings will compensate for it, but that works better in BS rather than RS, imo. The bots in RS eat too fast. The amount of servings is too little for too long cooking times. That is really annoying.

i'm from europe too, but i don't see anyone specially complaining about holidays here :)
the point of complaints is timing in whole.
no matter holidays or not, the schedule is too tight. like "the last breath before..."
and, i'm absolutely sure that nothing requiring step-to-step actions have to be released for weekend only.
weekend are for fun. sales? ok. it's fun. but not goals.
i agree with ms. pixie. it cd be just good old "gift from storm8", like it was before.

updates on wednesdays were JUST PERFECT!
everybody knows when it happens, anyone can be prepared.
mid week anywhere.
anyone knows that if he even doesn't come right today and couple days after - no content will run forever during this time.
and goals... we got special goals prior month to each holiday. even beginners had enough time to complete the goal and to remodel their places right by holiday. AND just take rest enjoying their new places and visiting friends on holiday itself :)
THAT is what we are all tending to do in real life: working hard to get great holidays / weekends :) and it was really good when our games went the same way :)

Vanacatu, I'm so very sorry about your pup. What was your dog's name?

It made me think, "Here I am complaining about finding a Thanksgiving goal the day after Thabksgiving (Timing, people! Come on!) & then I thought, "I could have bigger problems. I love my pet & my family & everything is okay with them."

So there's a lesson for me in gratitude, which is apropos, given the holiday yesterday.

But then I realized something else: When the game is being run is such a way that a player is thinking, "Well, at least my cat didn't die," maybe there is something wrong with the game!!

Doing goals AFTER the holiday has passed is bad timing. And annoying.

Today is the day Christmas season officially begins & here we are doing thanksgiving goals. Ugh.

I agree with everyone's comments on the timing of this goal. I miss the goals being released in time to actually use the prizes! In RS, it is at least better than BS. Just got a fall leaves goal there. Talk about S8's timing being bad!!

Idk if it happened to anyone else but while I was working on the first part of these goals with the pork belly, cheesecake, and wings I actually made a turkey meatloaf too just because, when I got to the second part where you have to make the corn beef hash two turkey meatloaf and two turkey leftovers it actually counted the turkey meatloaf I had already made BEFORE that part of the goal had even popped up. First time that’s ever happened to me.

I honestly don't mind any of it...but one suggestion. Thanksgiving was yesterday and it's over. Why not have done this prior so we could have used this final prize in our layout. But again I am happy to have new oven, recipes, gems, and the final prize. People complain when no goals, then complain too often. I finish all goals within about 5 days including sidegoals. It isn't hard to do. I just pop in whenever I see the recipe is done with notification and immediately start next. It makes it go super fast.

For the first time in over 5 years of playing, I am skipping some goals. It was hard at first, as we're so conditioned to blindly "doing the goal, getting the prize". But once I got past that, it feels really good! Time to visit neighbours, fill requests, redecorate, and realise that I didn't really need those 6 gems anyway...because I didn't have time to use them!
Obviously, Storm8's strategy is to pressure us to buy gems, and we can't blame them. That's how they make money.
Perhaps the clever thing for us to do is revamp our own strategy. Pick and choose your goals wisely. Instead of starting a goal immediately, wait a day or so and evaluate. What's involved? How much will it cost? How long will it take you to get needed parts? Do you really want/ need the prizes, and will you ever use them? How burned out are you with the game right now? And perhaps most importantly...are you still having fun??
I feel especially sorry for the newer players, who don't have 18 appliance slots and millions of coins, and therefore have no chance of completing these back-to-back goals.

When I had all the pics, I copied them from other posts. I'd hit the quote thing, like when you reply and then I'd copy the whole mess to the first post. But after I copied it in, I'd erase the

[QUOTE ] thing from the beginning.

At the end, I'd erase the [/QUOTE ] thing.

That left just the pics. I don't know how others do it. I couldn't ever figure out how to post a pic.

Yeah, when I "reply with quote" I can copy and paste the links up to 50 pics into 1 post. (that's the limit for images - I only knew when I did the previous Leaf goal) BUT if I were to attach the pics from my own desktop, it only allowed 5. Makes no sense ???

I am so annoyed with myself ... when I seen the turkey cooker re release I didn?t think there would be new recipes on it so I skipped the goal...I am only now realising that there were three new recipes to unlock 😭😭
