Lost kingdom - decoration

Does anyone know how big the lost kingdom decoration is? 1, 3x3 or 4x4 squares? And can you check thus by buying but nit placing it or do you pay the gold as soon as you click on 'buy'? Thanks!

It'll place on your board, and then if u click the green arrow it takes your gold, it's 2x2.
