Apple App store not allowing update download

Very frustrating! Had to erase racing live game today( would not allow me to get past opening page without updating), so went to app store to get new version. First erased older version. Then shut down iPhone to clear memory. Then went to the app store to download racing live. App store will only display version that says " installed". Not " download". Tried to install repeatedly , but will not allow. What might be the problem? I have already erased my version that had been working up till today.

Have you tried to add and install the game to your device through syncing on your computer? Or have you just tried to install it through the app store on your device?

If you haven't tried to install through sync, give that a whirl and see if you're able to install the game.

Just to let people know, the latest software update has caused a problem with the apple servers meaning that some applications are unavailable, some are not showing the correct message like smsvideo said etc etc etc
