Lt. Surge
- -UK- - 649RW8 This is fairly old, and while the information here is still relevant, it's not complete, I'm missing some info on some units, and the UI has changed since I wrote this. So while the general information is still correct, but the UI information may be incorrect, and I may be missing some things. I will update this eventually, but it's a big task, so it might be a while. I'm just posting this here to let people know that I haven't forgotton. I've decided to make this thread, to clear up some issues that should be general knowledge, but for some reason, even after reading the FAQ's, people STILL don't understand. WARNING, This is a HUGE read, if you don't want to completely understand this game, down to the finest details, DON'T read this. This will (hopefully) be a complete tour/explanation of the game. If I've missed anything, or anything's wrong, please PM me When I get around to it, I'll be adding pictures in to help with understanding. I put A LOT of time and effort into this, so any constructive critiscism would be very greatful. I feel like I'm forgetting to add a few things in, so if I think of them they'll go in. I will arrange this in an easy to read/find format _______________________________________ Changelog: v1.0 - Release - v1.1 - Made it more Visually Appealing, added the ability to sell units into the "Units Section". - v1.2 - Updated with New information regarding allies and quest mastery, disposable units and Honor Point Crates _______________________________________ Contents: 1) All tabs - 1a) Your Current level - 1b) Experience - 1c) Money - 1d) Health - 1e) Energy - 1f) Ammo - 1g) Home Tab - 1h) Missions Tab - 1i) Battle Tab - 1j) Units Tab - 1k) Recruit Tab 2) Home Screen - 2a) Buildings - 2b) Alliance - 2c) President - 2d) My Profile - 2e) Vault - 2f) Help/FAQ - 2g) Restore - 2h) Updates - 2i) Loot - 2j) Settings - 2k) News Feed 3) Missions Screen 4) Battle Screen - 4a) Attack Enemies - 4b) Sanctions 5) Units Screen 6) Alliance Screen - 6a) Recruit - 6b) Alliance - 6c) Broadcast 7) Buildings - 7a) Income Buildings - 7b) Defence Buildings - 7c) Energy Buildings 8) My Profile - 8a) Info - 8b) Skills - 8c) Comments 9) News Feed 10) Winning Country 11) Country Bonuses 12) Attacking/Defending - 12a) Battles in General - 12b) Attacking - 12c) Defending - 12d) The number of units I can use 13) Alliance - 13a) How many members can I have? - 13b) How many members should I have? - 13c) Alliance Brackets 14) Leveling Up - 14a) Leveling up through missions - 14b) Leveling up through fights 15) The Vault 16) The President 17) Loot 18) Ways to Earn Money 19) Sanctions _______________________________________ 1) All tabs - Visible all the time 1a) Your Current level Your current level is displayed in the top right corner of your screen, this is where to look if you want to know what level you are. News feed is covered in: 9) News Feed 3) Missions Screen Every mission currently available to your level is shown on this screen. There are 5 locations to do missions, each available at higher levels. To change location, click on the tab of the location you wish to view. Each Mission is shown in the format of: Mission name Required: Mission name Energy: ?? Money-Money (unit needed)x? +? Experience (unit needed)x? (Chance on loot) This shows you: 1. What the mission is called 2. The required energy for the mission 3. What units are needed for the mission and in what amount 4. The possible amounts of money for the mission 5. How much experience you get from the mission 6. Whether or not you have a chance at getting a loot item for the mission. NEW as of 25/09/09: Missions can now be "mastered" by doing them a certain amount of time. Mastering a mission to rank 1 will grant you an additional "X" amount of experience (where x is the amount you gain from doing that mission twice) and "Y" amount of money (where y is an amount you can gain from doing that mission twice). By mastering all missions in a certain area to rank 1, you gain a set amount of skill points, and can now rank them up to rank 2. Rank 2 works the same as rank one, except you get a loot item once they're all ranked up instead of skill points. 4) Battle Screen 4a) Attack Enemies This screen is the default screen you arrive on when you click the "Battle Tab" It shows the current "Winning Country". Clicking on this will go to the winning country screen. Below the "Winning Country" tab is a list of players in this format: FLAGFLAG Name Alliance Size ATTACKATTACK FLAGFLAG Level ATTACKATTACK This shows you: 1. The country the player is from 2. Their name 3. The level of the player 4. How many Alliance members the player has 5. How to attack them (:P) On the "Attack Enemies" screen, you will only be able to attack people with the same level as you, and a similar alliance size (known as brackets). By clicking on the persons name, you will go to the person's profile page, which is similar to your profile page. Here you can see what units and buildings your enemys have, as well as their Win/Lose ratio, how many missions they've completed etc. Use this information to gain knowledge on whether to attack this person or not. Attacking is covered in: 12b) Attacking Alliance Brackets are covered in: 13c) Alliance Brackets. 4b) Sanctions Clicking on the Sanctions tab takes you to the sanctions screen. It has a very similar setup to the "Attack enemies" screen, however, on this screen, people of all levels show up, and instead of having their alliance size, it has a monetary value, this shows how much money you'll get by killing that person. Santions are covered in: 19) Sanctions 5) Units Screen This screen is where you buy all of your units that you use in battle (and for missions) from. It's divided into 4 sub tabs: Infantry, Ground, Water, Air These represent the 4 unit types. Each unit is shown with a picture, a price, and sometimes, an upkeep cost. The price is how much it costs to buy 1 unit of that type. The upkeep cost is how much it costs EVERY HOUR to keep that unit, meaning, that every time you buy a unit with an upkeep cost, you lose some income. Units can be sold back to the producer (gone forever) for half of the price you bought them for, Loot items have a special, pre-determined selling price. A detailed unit sheet is available at: http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?t=21583 - Courtesy of SuperVolcano 6) Alliance Screen 6a) Recruit This screen shows you your own Alliance Code: Your Alliance Code: ?????? It then has a box where you can put in someone elses Alliance code, to recruit them to your Alliance. Under that is a button to recruit people via your contacts, I'm not exactly sure how this works, because I've never used it. 6b) Alliance (??) This screen has at the top: Your Alliance Size: ?? Followed by a list of all of the people in your Alliance, this is pretty self explanitory. 6c) Broadcast This screen lets you type a message, which will be seen by EVERYONE in your Alliance. Pretty self explanitory. 7) Buildings Buildings are divided into 3 types: Income, Defence, Energy 7a) Income Buildings These buildings are the backbone of your whole gameplan, without them, you're screwed. These buildings provide you with a certain amount of money EVERY HOUR. Each time you purchase another one, the price of that building goes up by 10% of the original price The buildings you want to buy are the ones with the highest R.O.I (Return on Investment). This means you want the building that's going to give you the most income for your money, JustCalcIt is a great site that calculates this for you, learn it, love it. Having the Highest income possible (while still maintaining a solid defense) is the key to victory in this game. A detailed building sheet is available at: http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?t=1010 - Courtesy of SuperVolcano 7b) Defence Buildings Defence buildings provide an extra amount of defensive points to add to your defensive units. Buildings are used in EVERY DEFENSIVE fight, but are never used when you're ATTACKING someone else. The differences between units and buildings is that units are cheaper, but have an upkeep cost and are limited in numbers. Buildings are expensive, and get a lot more expensive, but have 0 upkeep cost and are not limited in the number you can have. When buying defensive buildings, always buy the one that's giving you the most defence for your money, again JustCalcIt is your friend. A detailed building sheet is available at: http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?t=1010 - Courtesy of SuperVolcano Defending is covered in: 12c) Defending 7c) Energy Buildings These buildings provide a small increase to the amount of energy you regenerate every 5 minutes (or 4 for Russia) These buildings are only really useful if you do missions ALOT to level up, AND if you have an iPhone, because if you have an iPod, then you only have wireless SOME of the time, and when you do get back to wireless, your energy will probably be full anyway. A detailed building sheet is available at: http://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?t=1010 - Courtesy of SuperVolcano 8) My Profile The My Profile screen has 3 sub tabs On all of the tabs the following will always be visible: Your country's flag (If it has a golden wreath around it it means your country is winning) Your name Your level 8a) Info This sub tab shows you: How much Exp until you level up How many Missions you've completed Your total experience Fights Won Fights Lost Kills Deaths Your Income Your Upkeep Your Net income (income minus upkeep) What units you control What buildings you own Basically it's a brief overview of your whole acount. 8b) Skills This tab is where you allocate your skills every level Each time you level you get 3 skill points, each of which can be put in to 1 of these skills: Attack (Higher attack, the more likely you are to win when you attack someone) Defence (Higher defence, the more likely you are to win when you're attacked by someone) Max Energy (Complete more missions more quickly, you need some points in here to complete some of the high end missions) Max Health (Increases your max health, meaning you survive longer) Max Ammo (Nees 2 points to increase this by 1, this allows you to attack more people more quickly) It is unknown right now, how much of a bonus each attack and defence point provides, though there are theories that each attack and defence point adds an amount of attack/defence points to your total attack/defence equal to your level. For example, I'm level 100 and I have 10 points in attack. It will add 10x100 points to my total attack. This means that Attack/Defence Skills are much more important than Unit/Building Attack/Defence. 8c) Comments This is where other players leave comments on your wall, complementing or taunting you. You can also leave comments on your own wall. 9) News Feed This is arguably one of the most important features of this game. It shows you everything that happens to you, whether you're online or offline. If you're attacked, it displays here, if someone comments on your wall, it displays here, if your Alliance broadcasts something, it displays here. Without this feature, you'd have no clue what was going on. 10) Winning Country When one country is "Winning" they gain a 15% increase to all of their experience gained, this is great for people power leveling, useless to level 200's and not very important to most other people. However, it's a pretty cool feeling when you see that your country is winning :P To help your country on their way to winning, all you have to do is try to win as many battles as possible. 11) Country Bonuses Each country gains a special bonus. They are as follows: China: Bonus to Infantry unit's Attack and Defence (Unknown amount) Germany: Bonus to Ground unit's Attack and Defence (Unknown amount) UK: Bonus to Water unit's Attack and Defence (Unknown amount) USA: Bonus to Air unit's Attack and Defence (Uknown amount) Russia: Bonus to energy regen (Regen energy every 4 minutes instead of 5) 12) Attacking/Defending 12a) Battles in General Battles are resolved by getting the total attacking force's Attack points, and pitting them up against the total defending force's Defence points. Whoever has higher, generally wins. HOWEVER, there is a factor of luck involved, a mod had this to say: "It's like how someone rolling a 20 sided die can sometimes lose to someone rolling a 4 sided die" Sometimes your men get sick, sometimes you have the high ground, the list goes on and on, generally, if your numbers are close to your enemies, luck will play a big role, however, if you have your enemy completely and utterly dominated, you're pretty much going to win. But if you lose a fight you think you should have won, it's not a bug, you just got unlucky. I just wish to say, to all those people that think you're more likely to win if you have full health: THIS IS WRONG, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT LEVEL YOUR HEALTH IS, IT'S ALL LUCK! 12b) Attacking When you attack, you use your best OFFENSIVE units only, that means, that you should buy a whole fleet equal to the equation in 12d) of the best possible offensive unit. When you attack you'll select your best possible force, combine it with your attack points, and attempt to take on the enemy with his units + buildings + defence points. If you win, you take some of the money that person has (not including money in their Vault). If you lose, you take nothing. If you win while attacking, you gain 2-5 experience. 12c) Defending Defending is exactly the same as Attacking, only you use your best DEFENSIVE units only, meaning, while you have a whole fleet of offensive units, you should get a whole fleet of defensive units. If you can't afford both, either go with defensive, and try to save up money for the offensive, or buy the best overall fleet. Also, when defending, you also get to use your defensive buildings, which gives you a slight advantage, as the amount of buildings you can own is unlimited. If someone attacks you and wins, they take some of the money you have (not including money in the Vault). If they lose, they take nothing. If you succesfully defend an attack, you gain 1-2 experience. You don't gain any experience for a defence if you are on the sanction list. 12d) The number of units I can use When you attack/defend, you can use units equal to SIX times your current alliance size NO MORE. This means, when you plan to buy new units, go to your home page, look where it says "Alliance (??)". See this number? Times it by 6 and that's how many units you should buy! HOWEVER your effective alliance is only equal to 5 times your level, so if you're level 10, and you see 7000 alliance members, don't go buying 42000 units, as you can only use (10x5=50, 50x6=300) 300 Units. 13) Alliance 13a) How many members can I have? Your Alliance size is currently unrestricted, you can have as many as you want, HOWEVER when you attack/defend, you will only USE FIVE times your current level. This means, if you're level 10, and you have 1000 alliance members, when you do battle, you'll only use 50 of them, so technically, the largest Alliance you'll ever need (untill they raise the level cap above 200) is 1000 members. 13b) How many members should I have? I would advise you to have an Alliance of only 4 (including yourself) at the lower levels, this lowers the amount of units you need to defend yourself (while still keeping you in the top of your Alliance Bracket), which in turn lowers your upkeep However, once you start getting to the Higher levels, your Alliance Bracket may break, this means you have to quickly gain as many Alliance members as possible, and quickly deploy units for them to use. 13c) Alliance Brackets Alliance Brackets are groups of enemies with about the same alliance members as each other, this groups equal enemies together, they are generally 4-5 alliance members away from each other, for example: 1-4, 5-9, 10-14 etc. Alliance Brackets begin to break at the higher levels where there are less members, they break to a point where you can have people with 100 members attacking people with 4 members, it is inadvisable to keep low members when the brackets break. 14) Leveling Up 14a) Leveling up through missions Each mission you do provides you a certain amount of experience (exp). When you gain enough, you level up *HOORAH* Simple. 14b) Leveling up through fights Exactly the same as above, however, every time you attack and win, you gain 2-5 exp, every time you defend and win you gain 1-2, if you don't win, you gain nothing. 15) The Vault The Vault is your bank, use it to store your money, and safeguard it from attacks. The only downside is, you lose 10% of all money stored in the Vault. If you get your defence up high enough that no-one can beat you, there is no need for the Vault (except to restore your health). 16) The President The President provides many services, from refilling your energy/ammo, to giving you money, changing your name, to changing your country. NEW as of 25/09/09, you can now buy Crate's off him that have a 55% chance of being a common unit, 35% of being uncommon, and 10% of being rare. These items may or may not be better than your units, depending on your level and your luck. All of these require real money to do though, so unless you've got a big wallet, wait for the free Honour point offers to come around. He can even reset your account for free, what a nice guy. 17) Loot Loot are special units that you can only get 4 ways: 1. Some missions have "Chance on Loot". This means when you complete them, you have a chance of getting a special unit. 2. Sometime offers come to get a new unit by installing another of Storm8's Games. 3. Buying a Crate from the President. 4. Mastering all missions in a certain area to level 2. 18) Ways to Earn Money 1. Income buildings 2. Missions 3. Battles 4. Honour points 5. Selling Buildings/Units That's it, there is no other way to earn money in this game. 19) Sanctions If you are sanctioned, it means someone has put a "hit" on you. When you are sanctioned, you can be attacked even if you're below 27 Health, and you can keep being attacked until you "die". You can also be attacked by ANYONE and you don't get any experience from defending against someone while you're sanctioned. When you "die" you are instantly revived with 1 Health. Sanctioning someone else means that you'll pay anyone that can "kill" the person you're after. _______________________________________ Thanks for reading guys. Anything I missed? I haven't completely read through your game guide, but I have skimmed it.
It looks well written, organized, and clear enough for any player to understand. Props for sharing! Cheers, Vorpal |

I skimmed it as well, good guide. You get 1HP point back every three minutes though, so I thought I'd clear that up for you

Wow! That's a mouthful! How long did it take you to write all that!?
I like the way you organized this thread. Keep up the good work! You could use this as a template for the other storm8 games because they are all very similar. Once again, nice job! I hope some people will learn from this thread. |

And when I get around to it, I'll probably do this for a few of the other games, maybe all, but as of the moment, the only apps I have on my iPod are: World War, iMobsters, Kingdoms live and Ninjas Live. I don't like the racing or rockstars (what's with handling etc, it's attack and defence lol) And the Vampires/Zombies annoy me, because you can only buy defence for the opposite faction, yet you can attack the same faction, i just never attacked someone from the opposite faction coz they always had huge amounts of traps. |

I'm confused on the attacking/defending with alliance "units" definition.
Would you define 2 units as: 2 Marine (you actually have 25 for instance) Or 25 Marines 65 Medics So in terms of infantry, is the unit the a single marine or all your marines? Confused. |
