I think that sometimes when nothing works it is a computer glitch.
You have no choice but to use the ultimate. Pointless in being too stubborn.

I'm worried about those last few. Not too many dragons left, as they're dropping faster than I can heal them.

Don't forget about the baby brigade when you're facing diamond opponents! If you don't have diamonds, just throw baby fires or forests at them, and then you sell them when they lose and you don't have to heal them! It's worked twice for me so far, and I've stopped wasting my better dragons that I would have to heal.
