How to use storage?

I am having trouble using items I have stored, how is it supposed to work? I have tried everything.

You can retrieve your items from Storage by tapping on the Edit icon, then Storage.

In Restauant Story - where do you find the different items mentioned in the box "Hooray" like the freezer, or the umbrella. Also how do you use paint, screws and so on. Thanks

I tried this and I'm still unable to use my items, I can get to my storage but am unable to use anything out of it.

The storage in this game works differently than in bakery or fashion story. When you open your storage and you tap on the item you want, it will appear in your city on an open space. You then find it and move it to where you want it.
