Energy not refilling

At times I'm awarded +1 energy if I get two or three stars on a level. So I can play for a long time as long as I continue to get at least two stars.

But on some levels, I don't get the extra energy. Why not? I haven't noticed for sure, but i may not get energy for levels on which I have earned three stars.

Has anyone more observant than I am noticed an energy-earning pattern?

Ive been playing this for a while now. Whenever i fill up the keys for the chest to unlock i never get the rewards. Especially the one for energy refill

I was waiting for TeamLava to respond before I commented on this one.
It has been my experience that the energy refill is not automatic, but only occurs some of the time.

Same problem here. But I think it's even worse -- for some levels that I haven't earned 3 stars, I don't get energy rewards (+1 energy) when I get 2 stars.
