closing doors on RS

I am having issues closing my doors (so I can make food), but the food is still being eaten......don't know how and by who.........for example I set the Garden Salad (225 servings) to cook for 1/2 hour, all the servings are gone even though my restaurant is closed. I asked another player how he has so much food in his restaurant and he told me he closes his restaurant and cook up a storm, with 15 min dishes, 30 min dishes, one hour dishes, and etc. But when I do it, all my food disappears........what's going on?? I can't keep anything on my counters for too long. I also have 15 mins Bagels and 15 mins Fruit Salad cooking, and once they are done, I set them on counters and they disappear! LOL........what's up?

Blocking the door is not part of the game design and may produce undesired consequences. TLs words in a nut shell.
I used to create just a few tables by the door so only the minimal food was being consumed to work around this problem.

I think if you block the door with the podium, things still sale, just maybe at a slower rate than usual. Block it with anything else and nothing will sell.

However, like mentioned, it's not a part of the game and can cause another "error" where everything just instantly sales when you open up again and leave all of your counters back to zero again, so perform at your own risk. If you want to just stock up, you can leave the restaurant open and just remove all of the chairs to the tables so noone can eat anything. Or do like Meme suggested and just put very tables near a podium and block off everything else. You may lose some happiness rating, but you can get that back once you open up again eventually.
