I've done all the steps up to "Build a house for Thomas" but that doesn't show up in the book - or in the Market...? I cannot build the house!! That means I'm also stuck on "A Liege's Trust" because I can't tap on his house!! Help!!

Chain 4 Old Thomas Posts #15 to #18 has the complete listing of all the goals for this chain.
if you have completed the Magnifying Matrix it should have unlocked Old Thomas House in the Market
under Buildings>Specials.

Or perhaps a moderator (kooky panda or SpiritWind00) could check your game with a staff member and advice you.

sorry, No. once a timed event is over you can no longer collect(earn) those items.
you can always buy the bats/ghost for gems, remember the 10 gem is per single bat/ghost not all you may need.

if you have a Level 1 Haunted House you can store it in your inventory.
if you have a construction pit - just upgrade it to level 1 & then store.
it use regular craft items to build to level 1>3 Fancy Beam. 3 Earth Wisp. 3 Fancy Block
