When do baby animals get sick after breeding?

Is it double the time that it takes to breed them? I've had 2 sick babies already but granted I collected them after double the time they took to breed, it may be just my fault.

I just need to know this is for certain, so that the next time I breed animals, I will know what the time limit is before they go sick and collect them before that happens.

I tried Googling up answers to this and got results dating back to Jan 2012 saying there is a bug in the game that causes animals to be sick even before they finished breeding. So does anyone know if this bug's been fixed by now?

for example, when you breed a 10 hours bird and you come back to the game 20 hours later, the baby will be sick..
