Gift limits

I very frequently encounter the problem that 95% of my neighbors have reached their gift limit.
Do we know what the limit is on this? Does fulfilling map requests count toward that number?

For gold you can only send it to three different neighbors each day, for maps you can only request once a day, but you can help fulfill other's map request as much as you can each day.
