DRAGON STORY BEGINNERS? GUIDE

Welcome to Dragon Story, a game where you will create your own unique, beautiful island and fill it with amazing dragons! As you progress in the game, you will be able to expand your island, collect and raise more common, rare, super rare, and perhaps even ultra-rare dragon breeds, and decorate your island. But Dragon Story is a big game and for new players it can be a bit confusing to understand. Here are a few guidelines to help you along your way?

WHEN YOU FIRST BEGIN
When you first open the app you will be greeted by Dragon Mother. She will guide you through buying your first dragon egg: a fire dragon. All you will have to do is follow her directions and the arrows that show you where to buy things. Everyone will start at level 1 with a certain amount of coins and gold.

LEVELING UP
As play the game you gain experience points (XP), indicated by small purple stars. You can gain from collecting from habitats, harvesting from farms, clearing foliage, etc. When you collect a certain number of XP you will level up. Certain dragons, buildings, etc. will be unlocked when you level up.

COINS
Coins are used in the game to purchase dragons, buildings, decorations, etc. in the game. You can earn coins by collecting them from dragons. When the habitat is ready for collection they will either be sparkling (which means someone has visited your dragons) or a collect button will pop up. Coins are available for purchase by gold (tap on the + sign where it shows the amount of coins. Coins are available for purchase by gold (tap on the + sign where it shows the amount of coins you currently have).

GOLD
Gold is used to speed up breeding/hatching, expansion, evolution, and clearing times as well as for purchase of hybrid dragons or buildings and completing goals. You start with 20 bars of gold when you first begin. Gold is obtainable in three ways: by purchase with real money from the iTunes store (tap on the + sign where it shows the amount of gold you have) or by gifts from neighbors or by completing special goals.

GOALS
Island goals are found in the storybook icon (below the XP bars) and give rewards when completed of XP, coins, food, or gold. These are 1 or multi-step quests that you can complete for amounts of gold.

BUYING/HATCHING EGGS
You will be able to purchase dragon eggs once they are unlocked. Simply tap ?market?, ?dragons?, and select the dragon type you wish to purchase. They will appear in your nest after you tap on them. Eggs will take 10 seconds to 44 hours to hatch depending on the type. When your egg is ready it will sparkle and a ?Ready sign? will pop up. Note: one nest will only hold one egg. You need to buy 2 nests if you wish to hatch 2 eggs at the same time.

HABITATS
Habitats are for your dragons to live in. Small habitats will hold 1-2 dragons, larger ones 3 dragons. Dragons can only live in their color habitat (for example, a red-green type will either need to go in a red or green habitat; it can?t live in a yellow habitat). When habitats get too crowded you will need to either upgrade or buy a new one. Note: upgrading to a large habitat costs the same as buying a separate large habitat). Habitats also hold a certain amount of coins. When the coin count nears the maximum, the ?collect? button pops up. You can collect whatever has already accumulated by tapping on the habitat (a collect button is underneath, it shows your coins collecting).

FARMS
Dragons need food to level up. You can plant food in your farms. Tap on a farm, then ?plant? (the apple icon). A small farm will have options to plant impruberries, buffbeets, and firapples. The upgraded large farms also have those options along with pumpwings, eliteleeks, and scalypears. All foods need a certain amount of coins and time to grow before they can be harvested. You can speed the growing up with gold bars. When your food is ready, a ?harvest? button shows up. After you tap on it, your food that you planted will be added to your total and you will be able to plant more. You can also purchase food for gold (tap on the + sign next to the sign by your total amount).

FEEDING AND EVOLVING DRAGONS
You can feed your dragons food to level them up to epic form. The higher the dragon?s level, the more coins it will earn. To feed your dragon, tap on the habitat it lives in, and select the icon that shows an image of your dragon and its name. At each level (from 1 to 10) you will have to feed it 5 times to get it to the next level. IAs the dragon levels up; it will need to eat more each feeding.
When your dragon is at level 3, 6, and 9, it will have to go through an evolution to get to its next stage. You will need an evolution temple for this. To buy one, tap ?market,? ?buildings,? and select ?evolution chamber.? When it is completed, you can evolve your dragons by tapping on the temple and selecting the dragon you want to evolve. The evolution time will take approximately the time of the dragon?s hatching time (minimum hours is 3). When your dragon is level 10, it is in its epic form, and cannot be fed or evolved any longer.

BREEDING
You can hatch hybrid dragons without buying them with gold by breeding them. To breed dragons you will need a breeding den, which you can purchase. Tap ?market,? buildings,? and select ?breeding den.? A dragon needs to be at least level 4 to be able to breed in the den. The dragon that you get from a breeding will have the some of the same colors as the parents (for example, if you breed a red and a green dragon, you will get a red-green hybrid, you couldn?t get a red-yellow because neither of the parents have a yellow element). To breed two dragons, tap on the breeding den, and then the pink heart icon that says ?breed.? Select a different dragon from each side and tap the big heart button that says ?breed.? Each session costs 200 coins. Different dragon types will take different times to breed. You can use gold to speed up breeding times. Breeding time will generally take as long as hatching time.

DECOR
You can decorate and beautify your island with plants, paths, banners, etc. from the decor section of the market. Decorations will cost coins/gold to buy. Decorating your island will personalize it and make it unique.

CLEARING FOLIAGE
When you start off filling your main island with habitats you might notice that there are weeds growing around your land and that objects cannot be placed where they are. These weeds have to be cleared, which takes time and coins. To clear foliage, tap on the weed you wish to get rid of (it will be highlighted in yellow) and tap ?clear? when the icon shows at the bottom right. Different weeds take different amounts of coins and time to clear.

EXPANSION
When your main island has been cleared and is too small to hold all your habitats, you can expand further on it. To expand, tap on one of the wooden signs in the dark parts of the island that say ?expand.? Each expansion costs more money and will eventually require Mystic Maps, which you can request from your neighbors. Expanding takes time and after it is completed you will have to clear the area out before it can be used.

COMMUNITY/NEIGHBORS
To play with other people?s dragons and increase your social rating, you can visit their islands by tapping ?menu,? then ?social,? then ?community.? You can then select which islands to visit and play with other dragons. You can play with up to 3 of a community member?s dragons and up to 6 of a neighbor?s. Sparkling habitats have been played with and until cleared will be unavailable. After playing with someone?s dragons, you can leave a message for them on their wall.
Neighbors are people who will gift you gold and accept Mystic Map requests. You will receive a gift in coins or XP when you visit them every day. You can add neighbors with their Storm8 ID or ask them to add you by leaving your own ID on their wall (you can set your ID in your game). You can gift three neighbors with gold daily.
