Sunset Sky Village - Levels 43 - 48

Hi, I've been going back to get 3 stars on some of the earlier levels lately. I was working on the last of the Sunset Sky Village levels, and noticed there isn't a thread for that island/region. There are some individual threads, but you have to search to find them. I'm creating this thread to link the info together, and make it easy to find using the Jewel Mania Regions - Master Thread. The Master Thread is easy to find -- it's a "sticky"...pg. 1 of Jewel Mania | Discussions.

Here are some threads I found with info/tips about levels 43 - 48:
~There's some Q & A about a couple of this island's levels in the Jewel Mania - Basics thread. It's a good idea to read this, if you haven't already. It has important information, including descriptions of the special jewels and their advanced combinations. These "combo's" are extremely helpful. Knowing what each special jewel does and how to use it will save you a ton of frustration as the levels get more difficult! (I wish I'd known all that back when I first started.) When you start having to break glass/clear jewels in areas separate from the main board, special jewels are necessary (& combinations of them--amazing!) So read up (diamonds really are effective, lol!)

I started this post months back, but never posted it (for some reason.) I saw it was still saved in the forum, so decided to go ahead & post it (to keep all the Sunset Sky Village island stuff together.) Similar info was already posted, though, to one of the other Level 46 threads.

Level 46: 4 glass in 40 moves (5JC-jewel colors used.) This screenshot was taken a few months back (not sure what the level parameters were back when I first played the level):

For this level, and most of the upcoming ones, you're going to need special jewels. Be sure to read the Jewel Mania - Basics thread, "sticky'd" at the top of the 1st page of the Jewel Mania | Discussion Forum. Posts 3 & 4 describe exactly what the various special jewels do, and how to use them in advanced combinations. Understanding these things will help with all levels! (Wish I'd known this stuff when I was playing this level--drove me crazy for weeks! :confused:)

But basically, to clear glass off to the sides of the board, you can use the following:

1. a row blaster
2. a diamond
3. a combination of special jewels ("combo".)

1. Row blasters (horizontal/side-to-side blasting jewels) blast an entire row of jewels. You make them with vertical 4-jewel matches. You detonate them with regular matches, or you can swap 2 blasters together (see the chart in this post for more info on blaster combinations.)

2. Swap a diamond with a jewel next to it, and it clears every jewel of that color on the board. So if you have a red jewel on a glass you're trying to break, swap your diamond with a red jewel, and all red jewels on the board (and a layer of any glass underneath) will be cleared.

3. Combos:
-A diamond & blaster combination is very powerful. You swap the diamond with a blaster next to it, and every jewel the same color as the blaster on the board, will turn into a blaster also! Then they detonate! You seem to get a random selection of row & column blasters (about half & half,) so it's tough to "aim" for a specific target. But if you have a lot of same-color jewels, chances are better that you'll hit your mark. So it's not a sure thing for a target, but it's amazing for clearing lots of jewels and/or obstacles.
-A diamond & bomb is another good combo to try. Say you swap a diamond with a blue bomb. You won't get an explosion, though...instead, the diamond clears the blue bomb and every other blue jewel onscreen (breaking glass underneath them, if applicable.) Then it clears even more jewels [I think a (random?) 2nd color, as well...though I've never been able to confirm this for sure.]
-A blaster & bomb is perfect for a level like this. (Blaster + bomb isn't mentioned in the advanced combinations for some reason, but swapping these two special jewels makes a cross-shaped blast about 3 rows x 3 columns wide--very powerful and useful!) Swipe the jewels in the direction you want the blast to go (see this post for further info on that...)

Using one of these combos towards the bottom of the board will clear most of the glass. Row blasters can take care of the rest. One last combination you can try here is a bomb + bomb, set off at the edge of the board (near the glass). This combo should reach the glass, since two bombs amplify the explosion size. So you have lots of options in this level (on all levels, actually!) Now that you know what you need, you just have to get lucky with the right opportunities. Fingers crossed that you can make the special jewels you want, and then get them next to each other to combine!
