If u want to tell, forward this or post in walls, but ALWAYS delete the message after. See how long until it is finished,so you will know the hour and minutes of the day when it will be ready. Try to be logged in the game in the final minutes. Keep checking the expansion time. In the last minute, MOVE on any large habitat. Get ready! Hover your habitat over the piece that is juuuuust about to finish expanding. Click on PLACE right after the area turns green, even though the area is still showing the generic forest scenario instead of free terrain. Place it there. Eventually the weeds and such will grow over it. Visit a neighbor, play, come back. Wait a couple of minutes. If the weeds are still there, clear one of them and wait a while. Eventually it will disappear, leaving your habitat alone and weed-less, and your money won't be missing.
