View Full Version : New idea for clickable "alliance codes"

I just thought of an idea. Anyone else think it would be cool if storm8 coded this so that when you type a code it would make it a clickable link? Like on FB, you click on it and you can quick add or open that codes page. They could make a seperate box for the codes, you type them in, then type your message in another box and it would automatically add the 2 and make it so much easier. This would be a very simple code for the programmers at s8 to do, and I'm sure it would greatly improve the game. . Please give me feedback on this idea. Thank you.

Then you have a link to anyone in the game if you have their alliance code? That's absurd.

No, all those long bc lists of peoples codes that are spanned daily, you could click those. I'm not saying you can click and add anyones names
at random. Just posted codes in bc's , page comments and the like. Thus, not obsurd, useful

So I could enter the codes on this site into my comments. They then become a link and hey presto I have a link and can farm you indefiinitely.
Also if you attack someone and really annoy them then they go searching for a link to you but can't find one to give to their protection racket buddies (clan). However you have their code and they give it out and everyone gets an instant link... how long would you survive?
Anything that messes with either the way comments works now or the way codes work should never be changed in these games as it would unbalance them so much they would become unplayable.

Agreed pengbo.
Daniel, what you might not realize is that many of us are quite diligent about not leaving links to ourselves around, ANYWHERE. We do not want anyone to have to ability to easily access our profiles, and should they have this ability, we do not want them to be able to then in turn make it easy for someone ELSE to access our profiles through them.
If you BC my code to your alliance, it allows any of them to find me and attack me at will. If you are angry with me for one reason or another, these clickable BCs become weapons to be used against me. What would be my response? I would never advertise or give out my code, and neither would most other people. That would make building alliances extremely dangerous and difficult.
What if I had your code and I broadcast it to my farmer friends while you were camping?
Now, I do think that such a game might be interesting, because I enjoy elements of paranoia in my war games, but it's a fact that clickable codes would radically change the game we know.

I stand corrected, I didn't think thru the "sinister" aspects of my plan. I just thought it was a helpful idea for all those code spammers and the like out there, my apologies for not thinking in an evil way about this lol. It could still be an idea to toy with, but only for good.. Wait, won't happen! Lol

Well, I think you're trying to address a sore point in the way the game works. You would like to make it easier for someone to expand his/her alliance without feeling like they have to resort to spam. I think we can all agree broadcast spam sucks.

exactly. So how could clickable links work out so it removed this sore point and made growing your alliance easier? What if you could only click to add, nothing else

Although, I think at the top of a profile, if there was an "Add" button, that would be okay..?

I strongly agree with the add button on the profile page. It would make broadcasts be actually filled with info or generally more interesting things and adding clan members would stop being such a pain.

This is a good idea , this is what I wanted I wanted a general helpful concensus for storm8 to listen to and incorporate into the game

Each time you obtain a soft link to a player you would be able to add them? I know it might be useful for clans to get your crowd together but again you can add anyone as you like. All the "interaction" will be gone and how we can find people if there is no chatter around?
The same reason why you need to painfully delete each single comment because storm8 thought this very well thru because it keeps links from many people in the game.

Adding would be a nightmare. Everytime I found a cow they would never get away... hold on that sounds good... hmmm but then it would work the other way too. But since noone at may level has beaten me for a month now then maybe that's a good idea? Hmm but if someone sactioned me then anyone could get the link to me. Nah bad idea you would never be able to control how many allies you had.
If the add button simply sent an invite from you to them then that may be ok as it isn't actually changing anything just making it so you don't have to remember and type the codes.
It would still give people like me way too much power though as I use my invite list to farm from as once your on that list you have absolutely no way off it until I delete you :D Yeah like the sound of that. I would never use it but lost of others would as there are way too many with so little discipline.

It would mean "send invite"
although, if that were the case, why not have peoples' alliance codes on their profile automatically?

Maybe you did not read my post very careful, if everything is done with a "click" on a button and an invitation is send automatically, there will be no messaging, right ?
No message, no link ! So other players can't find you (may it be good or bad intention) !
So, there need to be communication between players, otherwise the game does not work. Imagine all players comment profiles are empty, how you going to find targets, friends, enemies ???
