Bunkers/towers dont count in battle?

How come when i battle someone i seem to lose 95% of the time because he had bunkers, but for some reason it seems like all of my bunkers/ guard towers had no effect. All it shows that i used were my 6 units... Anyone know how to fix this?

You only use your Bunkers and Gaurd Towers when your being attacked. You do not use them when attacking.
