Shards?

How do we get shards? I have the tablet expansion, and have collected from it for over a week, but it doesn't seem to have triggered anything. (I'm level 21)
Just need to be patient?

Yes, I received my first two pretty quickly and then it took about 4 weeks to get the third. Not holding my breath waiting for the fourth one, they come when they come.
