No New Quests

I'm on level 20 and haven't had a new quest forever. A while ago I needed royal points and bought the Conservatory without it being part of a quest. Could I have screwed things up there? Then I had multiple golden eggs and nuggets without a golden apple, so bought the tree. I'm bummed that I might have skipped quests that trigger more and seem to be out of the game. What can I do to get back in the process?

For example, is freeing Thurston a quest or just expand and those quests start?

I haven't heard of anyone doing anything that made them miss a trigger for a quest. Just play and things will come when they do.

There is no quest to free Thurston but when you do you'll get a whole new quest line.
