How do you get a troll pit?

by expansion. It's the hole in the ground with the treasure chest.

Follow the Thurston quest line in order to expand to it.

it needs a whopping 15 lanterns, 135k 1800 royal points and excalibam, i'm almost 1/4 to it, finishing my excalibam via the thurston quest
