I think the recent Zombies/Vampires update really unbalanced the game in Zombies' favor.
1. New defensive traps/slaves favor zombies. They now have +5 and +50 defensive traps vs. +1 and +15 defensive slaves for vampires. More importantly, vampire defensive slaves have an upkeep while zombies do not. This is a glaring imbalance right now. Zombies can amass as many defensive traps as they want while vampires must suffer high upkeep costs when adding defensive slaves.
2. New abilities favor attack over defense. This makes sense because of the new defensive slaves/traps, but when considering the heavy upkeep costs of vampire defensive slaves, this again favors zombies.
3. New income traps for zombies but no new income slaves for vampires. At higher levels, vampires will have to earn very low ROI to upkeep their new expensive abilities while zombies have new traps to help accommodate these costs.
On a side note, there are many levels where the difference between a maxed-out vampire and zombie are glaring.
For instance, when a maxed zombie attacks a maxed vampire, zombies overpower vampires in many levels.
Level 15: Zombie overpowers by 8 points
Level 30: Zombie overpowers by 6 points
Level 40: Zombie overpowers by 20 points
Level 65: Zombie overpowers by 45 points
Level 100: Zombie overpowers by 20 points
When a maxed vampire attacks a maxed zombie, the vampire STILL loses in most of the above levels, even WITHOUT zombie defensive traps.
Level 15: Zombie wins by 12 points
Level 30: Zombie wins by 16 points
Level 40: Zombie wins by 29 points
Level 65: Vampire wins by 5 points*
Level 100: Vampire wins by 16 points**
*Note that for level 65, zombies only need 1 Graveyard Trap for every horde member to offset any vampire attack advantage.
**Note that for level 100, zombies only need 1 Solarium Trap for every 3 horde members to offset any vampire attack advantage.
Now, there are levels where a maxed vampire attacking a maxed zombie will always win based on abilities. BUT, zombies can buy defensive traps with no upkeep. Defensive vamp slaves have heavy upkeep costs. Buying enough defensive slaves to protect from zombies is not a viable option for vampires, whereas zombies can cost-effectively buy traps to protect from vampires.
