More mobsters?

Does anyone know how having more people in youre mob helps you?

It allows you to take more mobsters into a fight or defend you. Keep in mind each mobster can use 1 weapon, 1 armor, and 1 vehicle. You can have as many people in your mob as you want. Hell, go for a million, but you're only allowed to attack or defend with 5X your level of mobsters. So, if you're level 10, and have 123098172198 mobsters in your mob, that won't matter because you'll only be allowed to attack/defend with 50 of them (including yourself).

But it's up to me to outfit each mobster in my mob, so if I have 20 mobsters then I have to have 20 weapons, 20 armors and 20 vehicles to be fully armed & defended, right?

NO. You don't have to equip them with anything if you don't want to. But that's a bad strategy because everyone is placed into "brackets" if you will, to keep it fair. So you'll be placed into a bracket with other people the same level as you, with about the same number of mob members, and if they have all of their mob members equipped with each item, you're going to lose. It's best to make sure you can fully equip each member in your mob before gain more members.
